Mint Coin
Placeholder. Mint Coin is a placeholder name, and the currency shown here will be replaced in a later release. Its name, id and rules will change; the ideas behind it stay.
Mint Coin is the currency built into the node. Its rules are published as a series, a fixed set of rules, and poo init follows it.

The id is the hash of every rule below. Tools name Mint Coin by this full id only, so a look-alike cannot pass for it.
Its rules
| Supply | Fixed: 32,768 mints of 10¹⁴ units each |
|---|---|
| Pools | 1,024 pools of 32 mints. The mints of a pool share one ledger. |
| Hash | SHA-512/256 |
| Minimum strength | Entries 20 bits, layers 24 bits. Weight comes from layers only. |
| Key algorithms | Ed25519, ML-DSA-65, ML-DSA-87, SLH-DSA-SHA2-128s, SLH-DSA-SHA2-256s |
| Address types | threshold, hashlock |
| Witness ceiling | 131,072 bytes (128 KiB) |
| Issuer | None |
Why these choices
- Fixed supply
- Anyone can check the whole supply from the definition, and no one can add to it. In all there are 3.28 × 1018 units, which still fits a signed 64-bit integer, so totals and balances stay exact in every tool.
- 32,768 mints
- A mint is a block of units with its own history. Holders are not limited: a mint's units split across any number of addresses.
- Pools of 32
- 1,024 pools keep the cost of syncing a pool and checking a peer's weight modest, and each node follows only the pools it needs.
- SHA-512/256
- A NIST standard from the most studied hash family, with a 128-bit collision margin. No existing mining fleet targets it, so rented SHA-256 hardware cannot be turned on it.
- Post-quantum keys
- Ed25519 for everyday payments. ML-DSA-65 and ML-DSA-87 for holdings that must outlast quantum computers. SLH-DSA rests only on the hash, so it holds even if lattice schemes fall. The list is fixed for ever.
- Threshold and hashlock addresses
- k-of-n custody for treasuries and cold storage; hashlocks for swaps, escrow and settlement between parties. Under the 128 KiB ceiling a witness holds up to 16 of 16 ML-DSA-65, ML-DSA-87 or SLH-DSA-SHA2-128s signatures, or 4 SLH-DSA-SHA2-256s.
- No issuer
- No key exists that could be lost, stolen or pressured into changing it. The series id, published in several places, is its identity.
